Beginning Quilts: Lap/Baby size
Ready to take the next step in sewing? Need a quilt for someone special? Make a lap quilt with pockets or baby quilt without pockets!
Basic sewing knowledge necessary. Students should be able to use their machine and sew a straight seam. Class intended for students age 15 and older.
This class runs over 3 weeks. Some sewing will be required outside of class times. Students will create the quilt top, learn to make a quilt sandwich, learn a few basic quilt patterns, and finally bind their quilt.
Material requirements:
Option 1: Enough to make 4 blocks plus border if using your own pattern choice to make 4 blocks 9x9 each.
Option 2 for a Lover's Knot pattern:
(limited supply at the Craft Room)
*1/3 yard of 3 coordinating fabrics and
*1/4 yd of additional fabric (can be one of the 3) or 1 package of bias binding that coordinates with all
*1.1/4 yd of flannel for backing
*1/2 yard of low-loft batting like Warm & Natural or enough batting to make 1 square yard
If student would like to buy supplies from Life In The Craft Room, please come in at least 1 day before the start of the class to pick out fabric and have batting cut.
*Sewing machine, thread & bobbins, scissors, pins or clips, any other notions students like to use when sewing
