Quilting 101: Skillbuilder Block of the Month

Basic sewing knowledge is necessary. Students should be able to use their machine and sew a straight seam. Class intended for students age 15 and older.
Students must bring the following to the first class:
Sewing machine, thread & bobbin, scissors, fabric marking tool, any other notions student likes to use when sewing, and fabric.
Fabric is available for purchase prior to class. Students are asked to come prior to day of class to complete purchase of fabric and/or batting.
This quilt is designed for four fabrics. However, you can use more if you like a scrappy look. This quilt is also fat quarter friendly. Yardage listed is exact.
Fabric required:
Light 1: 1.1/8 yd (3 blocks and sashing)
Light 2: 1.1/2 yd (all blocks)
Dark: 2 yd (all blocks and outer border)
Accent: 1/2 yd (8 blocks)
Backing: 3 yd
Batting to fit quilt dimensions
Quilt dimensions: Throw size 50in x 64in with monthly blocks finishing at 12in square.
January: Strip sets and snowballing
February: Snail's Trail block
March: Courthouse Steps block
April: Log Cabin block
May: half-square triangles and Attic Window blocks
June: half-square triangles and star block
July: flying geese (four-at-time, no-waste)
August: quarter square triangles or hourglass blocks
September: applique (butterfly or Sunbonnet Sue)
October: Dresden fan and applique
November: Cathedral Windows
